Apple rolls out iOS 16.3.1
Apple has just launched a new version of its operating system on iPhone: iOS 16.3.1. A minor update, which however fixes many bugs and improves security, shortly after the release of iOS 16.3.
Here are the 3 main new features brought by iOS 16.3.1:
- iCloud: the update fixes bugs related to iCloud, which prevented automatic backups on different applications,
- Locate: Siri requests linked to the Find My app are now functional. For example, you can ask “Hey Siri, find my iPhone”, to start the location search.
- Emergency calls: Apple optimizes the detection of accidents, and solves the problems related to the automatic triggering of emergency calls in situations without danger (amusement park, downhill skiing, etc.). This feature is available on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
Note: This update appears to impact the Google Photos app. Indeed, several users have indicated on Twitter they couldn’t open the app after updating their iPhone. Google has acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating a way to resolve it.

How to install iOS 16.3.1 on your iPhone?
To obtain and install the iOS 16.3.1 update on your Apple smartphone, the process is simple:
- Go to your app Settings,
- Click on Generalthen on Software update,
- The iOS 16.3.1 update appears, click the button Download and Install.
The update is 235.1 MB and installation is quite quick. However, it is recommended to use a Wi-Fi network to avoid consuming your mobile data. Also remember to charge your iPhone during the update, or to have more than 50% battery.
